Step 7

Step 7 - Position Edge Pieces

At this point, your 5x5 behaves exactly like a common 3x3. You can use your typical favorite 3x3 Rubik cube solution. Here I am going to use Phillip Marshall's method. Solving edge piece or the crosses first.

Complete Edges Layer #1

You will need to identify which layer you wan to solve first. Here I am pick Tony Tony Chopper. So I will need to find every row of Chopper's edges & position them to their respective adjacent planes. For example, edge Chopper / Sanji must be placed properly on Sanji first as shown on cube left. Similar to Luffy shown on right.

You should solve the other two row of Chopper's edges that has Nami & Zorro as adjacent planes. Careful not undo properly positioned edges we did earlier on Luffy & Sanji. Use Edge Piece Series if necessary. Normally you do no need to.

Only then you rotate every one of the planes to meet with Chopper as shown below. Ensure that Chopper is complete except for the corner pieces, & all other adjacent images are correct at Chopper's end. Picture below shows my completed adjacent images.

Complete 3 Pillars

Simply by rotating plane Robin's plane & Edge Piece Series you can easily correct 3 vertical edges which are like perpendicular pillars to Chopper (he is at the bottom).

Solve For All Edges

So you are left with this cube below; only 5 edges, 4 on Robin, 1 vertical luffy/nami edge. Immediate objective is to place at least two of Robin's edges correctly. Use Edge piece series between the red mark locations. You can rotate Robin as necessary.

After that you are left with this 3 final edges. Look at the carefully. In my case I can solve using a single Edge piece series as shown below. The Green circle is where I want the edges to FLIP.

Execution. Think you should be great by now; Down, down, up, up. Cube below summarizes first move, pulling down that green circle location that needs to be flip; Sanji anti-clock wise rotation . 2nd move is opposite plane down with Zoro clockwise. Then reverse Sanji, up, and then Zoro up.

You end up with this cube below. Just rotate Robin correctly & you are done

Some times there are more than 1 inverted piece. Then you will have to run Edge Piece twice. Otherwise no problem solving all the edges like this cube below.
